this would be a good place to insert your thoughts on how to wire an electrical system on a 4x4?
with or with out dual batteries
remote mounted batteries
emergency disconnects (how to's)

how have you done yours?
how would you have liked to do yours?
wiring for batteries in other than stock locations?
examples: under bed, in the bed, in the cab
dual battery set ups with winch and or winches
links to good sources for switches wiring and electrical supplies to get the job done!!!!!!!!!
and any thing else that will help like
how to wire a system for dual batteries so it can operate at 24 volts for welding while maintaining 12 volts on the computer system in the vehical?
or how to build in jumper cable outputs into your system

I get 90% of my stuff from:
www.waytekwire.com
www.del-city.net
www.partsexpress.com (for little things)

For the battery terminals, Waytek has a quick-release pin that replaces the bolt on the terminal, so if ya need to you can quickly remove the battery terminal with no tools. $10 a pair.

I'm laying out my home-built harness on paper now, should start wiring it next week. One battery, since my rig is weight-conscious.

I am in the process of the wiring harness and electrical system in the truck and plan on mounting my batteries under the bed.
I have dual optimas, I have a winch. and a ready welder, and plan on running the winch on a removable mount to go from front to back on the rig. I also plan on running the welder from either of these locations as well. I will probably run a third battery in the stock location for the engine electrical just to by pass some of the wiring night mares ahead of me.

I still have to work out the charging of these batteries under the bed or through the bed mounting.

I only plan on running the batteries at 24 volts for welding so that should be a simple un hook hook process. I plan to run wire to the front for the winch and the rear as well I would like to use something like a juction block to connect it to one or the other not both.

If that makes sense
so each battery would have to have a disconnect on it
and the leads to the front and rear would need a disconnect on them to turn them on/off when needed.

also in cab winch controls
electric fan cut off switch
I want to run most of the electrics on a second system
rock lights, driving lights, winch, electric fan, electric locker, all the secondary electrical stuff,

and run all the primary stuff off the main set up.
