I've discovered a few useful free computer programs through the years, so figured I'd share a few and see what I can learn from you guys.

Filename searcher, way faster than the built in search in Microsoft and much simpler/cleaner:

Also, I took that screenshot with Greenshot, which is by far the best screenshot tool I've ever used:
You can copy stuff directly to the clipboard, or you can open it in their image editor which is very slick and easy to use for adding text or arrows or highlighting:

PDF24 is a good free PDF editor.

And Edrawings is the best free 3D file viewer I've found.
It allows you to rotate/zoom/measure just like regular cad:

And even do a sectional view:

You got any cool stuff I need to know about?

People still use windows?
Haters gonna hate, but windows still works great. More user friendly and reliable than my iPhone for the way I use things.

I like notepad++ for a text editor. All sorts of customizable depending on what you want to use it for.

Windows is for the average computer using public who doesn’t have time for a Masters degree just to use a computer.

MacBooks and Linux are for college degrees and posers.

And this is two of the last 7 people on Earth who still use Unix.

Eight. I still have a running SCO Unix box. Well, it would if I plugged it in.

I haven't worked for a company for 10+ years that runs Windows (outside of a few people that need to run some special finance apps)
I’ve never worked for a company that used anything other than windows.

I still use windows 7 lol. But I rarely use a computer anymore.
We have several PCs in our lab that are Win 7. Once we get things nice and stable for running experiments they get locked down and no changes until they die or the whole setup is retired.
Hell I was cleaning out an old lab a month ago and found one w/ XP on it.

Same except when we used Unix early on for CAD and CNC programming. I'm on Windows 10 holding onto my 4 year old laptop so I don't have to switch to 365.

Apple is for liberal interweb people who create nothing.:stirthepot:

JFC what a pile of garbage it is. And everything being funneled through OneDrive? Fuck that. But they've sunsetted all the other viable options.
It blows my mind this is what DoD is allowing, even forcing us to do. So many security and productivity problems.

No more than I have to deal with computer stuff at work, it's hot trash. The gubmemt/DoD always takes stuff that isn't broken and fixes it until it is. I'm quite sure somebody is filling their pockets because of that horse crap software.

Heck Rodney, you could have stayed with Windows XP. The issue is that Microsoft stops supporting them. That causes security issues when on the internet. The other issue is that some software is not backwards compatible.

Yes XP was awesome!!!

I hate that I had to upgrade from office 2010, Word, Excell Outlook all worked fine. I like my shit on the computer and not going to the cloud, so I can share across devises, Uh I'm capable of doing this myself (if needed) and I'm a smaller target than Uncle Bill for data mining. So how is it better? Oh wait you get money siphoned out of my account, so some hacker can take even more. Sounds great glad I signed up.

Yep, I still run my XP style skin with quick launch bar in Win11. That's another one I forgot. No stupid icons and hovering, just go straight to the file or program I want. If I have 6 excel files open, I see the name of all 6 instead of a stupid preview image:
