wanting to do a sas swap on my 88 nissan 4x4 v6 auto or could go another way it has some suspension damage to the pass side front but its as simple as replacing the A arms and the torsion bar just wanting opinions on parts and ideas

Lots of guys have done it. The frame layout, oilpan, and existing steering box setup actually make it fairly easy to do a leaf-spring SAS on these trucks. Calmini sells a front spring hanger that welds on and you can get a D44 from a 80+ Wagoneer under there fairly well. The track width on those ends up having the front slightly wider than the rear. A D44 from a Ford will also work (swapping hubs), 66-77 Bronco works as is and HP44 76-79 works as well if you do radius arms.

Visit www.roninwheelers.com or nissan4wheelers.com for fab info. For more regional Nissan support visit www.noas4x4club.com

Get ready to spend upwards of 7000 dollars. I've got around 5 in mine and its not 4wd yet. Getting the axle under the truck is the eaasiest part, then you gotta figure every thing eles out, drive shafts, crossmembers, gears, nismo gears for the rear axle are about 500 for just the ring and pinion and they're all off D44 ratios so its impossiable to get to true ratio match. And the waggy 44 is the easiest and cheapest opption, ford hp 44 wwould be nice but you wwould want to cut it down good bit. Don't buy the calmini through frame shackel mounts, not enough flex, and if not done 100% right they will cause bindage. Not tryin to detere you just get ready to spend some money. Oh and nissannut.com will show you everything you need to know.

I'm not sure how much I spent, but I want to say ~$3k on mine.
Complete D44 from a junkyard, bought the calmini spring hanger as Nissanwheeler mentioned, used my stock rear springs up front with Add-a-Leafs, used 63" chevy springs in the back from a junkyard, bought a rear Xterra axle to get carrier/4.9 gears, scrapped Xterra axle, gears & locker for D44, misc hardware, & shop time

Same sites mentioned above have really good write-ups, pics & builds.

I know I have aftermarket torsion bars from my 3" suspension lift, and I may have the aftermarket A-arms...let me know if you'd be interested.

The budget will entirely depend on your patience, how much searching/researching you're willing to do for parts and information, fab skills, and the number of junkyards in your area.

I've seen some really nice and very capable rigs get made for peanuts.

what he said 100%

I would go for it just hunt hard for the right parts and good deals. I've seen people dump tons of money into a sas and seen other people that hunts gets good deals and the truck works better then the 5-6k swaps
