were can i get direction to harlan. thanks guys... oh yeah coming from statesville or boone
The "legal places to wheel" thread or mapquest will get you there. I-40,Hwy 421,Harlan Ky. Its really simple, you just have to choose which of the few different ways you could go.

A little re-cap...

We had great time up there, I had a good bit of bad luck but it was still one of the better wheeling trips I've had. I wanted to thank Larry Smith for all the spotting and wrenching he helped me with on my jeep, Ronnie Shoope for hooking Me up with Grant and Grant for the shaft and info.
With the ground freezing and thawing some Class 2's gave us as much trouble as the 5's. The tight trail through the woods up to Lions was crazy. Not a bad trail but it was so slick we sat there bouncing off the rev limiter for about 2mins throwing chunks of earth the size of snickers bars. FUN!
Larry's carnage consisted of a broken valve stem, thats awesome for all he put that yota through. I however broke an alloy shaft ear,760 u-joint(not sure where or when I had done this but it was discovered as soon as I got the jeep off the trailer) a stock D44 shaft(Lions den:rolleyes:) and I made it all the way to the exit on Ghost trail before I noticed that my driver side hub wasn't engaging. Here's some pics..

I've got good video of my axle snapping at Lions Den, if I wasn't so comptarded I'd post it up. It has great audio but the whole thing went like this. Larry "OK stop" I give it just a little more gas and POW, ooops....Listen to your spotter!

harlan is my new favorite. if you really want to ride and hit good stuff Harlan is the place to go. Easy to get in and out of. I went 3 weeks ago and broke a lower link mount off the frame on can opener and i was off the trail in 30 minutes and on the way to getting it fixed. That would have never happened in Tellico. Glad you had fun, wish i was there

fun stuff

wish i could of been there. stinking trailer breaks.

how did the shock mounts hold up?

They're still there. Pretty much everything else got a good scratch or a dent though. You'll definetly want to improve your turning radius before you head up there. Tight trails and switch backs.....I'm sore as hell. We came back sat. nite.

Harlan

It was a great trip, had a great time. It was cold in the mornings, I had to pry my cooler open to find the water inside frozen. I didn't purchase ice on this trip.
