Be aware when you go ...lock your shit up or it will get stolen. This is the second time we've had stuff stolen. We got ready to load our rigs up to go home and someone had stolen all our straps as well as several other peoples in the area. It sucks and makes me not want to go back, this shit keeps up and no one will go there leaving it to become just another dried up coal town. end of rant..:shaking:

maybe an 18" saw air shock that had a blow out and was in the back of my truck. Last time it was 2 4wheeler wheels and tires out of the fenced in yard of the house we'd rented.

Jeezus.. the straps and an air shock too?

Fatty - they're not desperate - some of the local white trash don't like us coming and using their town as a base camp to go play. They're jealous that we work hard and have a little disposable income to spend on our hobby. So to get back at us, they steal things.

It's obvious the businesses LOVE us being there. The fucking locals need to get a clue that the only reason they even have a town is that we're infusing money into that place. Another dried up coal town indeed. When I mentioned it to the gas station clerk, she just shrugged like "Yeah, it happens"

Holy hell if anyone had caught one of those SOB's red-handed.. That little shit would be tied to the train tracks with the tie-downs he was stealing after being beaten to within an inch of his life with the air shock..

Were you able to raid Wally world for more so you could get home safely?

I hope shoope1 reads this.. he seemed to be the ambassador for Harlan...

Set up a motion sensor Camera, leave some old straps out as bait. Get some pictures, and go ask around town who the thieves are. Can't be so big a town that Everyone doesn't know everyone else. then let the floggings begin!

Most locals want us there but there are a few that don't, mostly because of a few wheelers that act like kids on spring break when they come to town who make the rest of us look bad.
I work closely with the city of Evarts and what I get from them is that most of the thiefs are commited by young Meth/Oxycot-heads. I'm there several times a month and never leave anything out in he open and haven't lost a thing.

Sorry you lost these items, I know they arrest these kids and the courts just turn them loose...maybe if they are caught in the act and get a little street justice they will quit.

Funny the officer we spoke with suggested the same thing more or less.

It just sux to drop $200 on nice straps and have them walk off......not to mention the clusterfawk we had coming up with enough straps to get out of there.

Thanks for the heads up Greg. I like many leave the straps and such on the trailer. Guess I'm gonna have to lock up the pane tanks, trailer spares, spare 44, and all. Were you in the camp ground or were you in one of the rental cabins?

Be careful, those addicts can get crafty and ruthless. Next post might say...''stolen..video camera, pepperspray and shotgun''.

I have a feeling they are probably selling all this stuff back to people coming into town and not the locals who probably have no need for it. I'll likely knock the shit out of the first person that offers me stolen goods up the there, no questions asked-no its not the right answer but yes it will make me feel a helluva lot better about the stuff I lost;)

Thats a bunch of bullshit! We were up there in feb. and I was definately worried about leaving anything lying around. I figured it wouldn't take long before things would start dissapearing from up there. We normally stay at the cabins there and the owner is around quite a bit, that may help keep some folks away from there.

I'm sorry that you're stuff got stolen, but I don't care where you go leaving stuff laying in clear sight is asking for it to be stolen. Unfortunately we don't live in Mayberry anymore. There are people in every city, town, and community that will steal anything they can get their hands on to make a buck. It's unfortunate that the world has come to this, but it's the sad reality.

That's the same BS the last time this was brought up... Shouldn't be left out etc.. I'm sorry if someone reaches into your truck bed or tool box for anything, they are likely to go further if needed..

It's only March now, I can see this turning into a big issue as the year goes on..

You know a bobcat locked inside a toolbox would make one hell of a surprise find, if you could keep it quiet...

See if Mr. Gadget can catch us a cat to lock up...only question is, if the thiefs don't show up how the hell do you get the cat out later.....

He said the krawler was locked to the trailer, so i guess these thieves just go for the low hanging fruit, stuff they can grab with little work.
