All though I am a toyota guy, have you seen this. Jeep has made me proud. I am DEFINITELY a made in america guy.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it. How much of it is really made here?

It very well could have been designed in Germany considering Dailmer owns them.

I believe my dad's company has parts in the new Cherokee. He bought me home a trim panel for it that ended up in one of the crates they shipped back for a refill.

His company makes automotive sound proofing non woven stuff. I'll ask him where its made.

He doesn't happen to work for Lydall does he?

My dad, separate person, makes/modifies machines that lydall uses to manufacture or assemble car parts. I was working on one today (really just helping out the machinist fix some problems) which puts clips on wheel well carpet sound proofing type stuff for bmw's and ford trucks. Small world eh?

As far as the commercial, good marketing, and good commercial. I too would like to know how much of the manufacturing process is done in America.

I liked the commercial (actually just saw it on TV before I read this post), but I imagine it's stretching things a bit. I imagine most of it is made or assembled in mexico or canada.

It may very well be assembled here stateside... but that dosn't mean the parts are also made here.

Which raises a curious question, when they label avehicle as say 77% domestic made, how is that really quantified? something like, say, a wiper control assembly, which itself has lots of little parts, may be installed here, and maybe even that assembly is, er, assembled here, but chances are slim that all the little components came from the same place or that many of them are not from other countries.
