I had the heads rebuilt on my '78 AMC 304 and getting ready to reassemble. The cylinders were bored out .030 about 15 years ago and some one else assembled the engine. My question is are stock head Gaskets ok for the bored out cylinders
? They would be hanging in .015 Into the combustion chamber.

Its just over 1/3 of a mm. I'd run it as long as you didn't push the stroke up into it.
Yeah I know it isn't much but I want to be right, stroke and pistons are the same just the rings were changed.

Did some google searching and it appears that the general consensus is a stock gasket will work with a .030 overbore. Going bigger will necessitate a larger bore HG. Ymmv, I'm not an engine builder, and I'm curious to hear a professional opinion as well.
