Heater core on a 01 ctd walk through

Well I had to change this out on my 01 ctd, and I figured you guys might like to see the pics.
I did the unbolt the dash and wiggle my way in there method. I didn't want to take out the heater core, so I ended up cutting the hard lines and running all soft lines like I've seen in other writeups.

It took all-in-all about 4 hours, and that included installing the new radiator as well.

You can see the crack in the side resivoir on the radiator here. It was about 4 inches long.

I am confused. I see that you cut the metal lines and slipped rubber heater hose over them. So you bought a new heater core, but didn't install it? My dash is cracked almost as bad as yours. I want to replace it.
