i just replaced the heater core in my cj and was pretty sure that i reconnected the hoses correctly, but i'm not getting any heat. i connected the hose from the thermostat housing to the upper connector on the core, and the other hose to the hose to the water pump. Have i gotten these backwards or does it even matter.
Any other ideas why i'm not getting any heat??
thx,

It should not matter which way they run.

All the core does is provide a "reverse" heat sink that warms the air that is pulled through it.

General reasons for no warm air:
1) Obvious, but is there #1 coolant and #2 coolant getting to the core
2) Is the heater plenum sealed so thaht all the warm air is insulated and used efficiently
3) Its a jeep. You will never get warm with the top/doors off :flipoff2:

If the top and doors are on, well then why? Its a jeep

well, my original post was incorrect about the hoses. the upper hose on the core is run to the water pump and the other is run to the thermostat housing. both hoses were hot, meaning fluid was running thru them, but the air coming out of the housing wasn't warm at all. maybe it takes a while to burp all the air out of the core so it's all fluid. i just thought that with the blazer fan upgrade i did today also that i would get more heat than i had before. now it seems less...

as far as the top on the jeep...yeah, i know...but i was tired of stumbling over the top in the garage so until next spring...it's on there.

something else to keepin mind.
A lower fan setting will result in less air moving across the core, and result in a highr temperature of air output.

This can be a confusing premise.
But a high fan setting will in effect cool the air more and while it will cause more warm air to be blown into cab, the air will be cooler than on a lower setting.

Does that make sense?
