Is there anyone in our community that owns or works for a local (Winston Salem) HVAC company? I would like for you to PM me.

Also, as anyone changed out the heat pump and condensor on their own. I am just swapping like for like. Does anyone have any experience in this field?

I have some experience in Hvac, actually got a degree in it, If all the refrigerant has leaked out, you should be able to braze in a new condenser coil without a problem, then you'll have to have an A/C company come out and charge it. Ever done any plumbing (soldering pipes together)? Brazing is pretty much the same thing only using higher temp solder (brazing rod) and you will need something hotter than a propane torch too. Mapp gas I think will work, or oxy acetelyn will deffinately. Good luck!

Edit: Are you relpacing the whole condensing unit (compressor, reversing valve etc.) or just the condenser?
