I've been in contact with a few people in the mountains and have become aware of current specific needs for a few families in the Watauga/Avery county area that are in need of assistance. I know this is a pretty generous group, so if you feel called to help with this need, I can get you in touch. I'm also aware of some other opportunities coming up in the next few days if you want to help but this doesn't strike your fancy.

Here's some excerpts of my conversations:
"Q’Pasa and Immigrant connection of the High Country have been trying to raise funds and so far only have $10,000 to help those who can’t apply for any government assistance or even Samaritan's Purse who I’ve been in contact with."

"Do you know of any organizations looking to donate to smaller organizations? Today alone I received a list of 10 families that need assistance and haven’t received any help at all. Only one was able to apply for fema and was denied."

At least one of these organizations is an offshoot of a local church in Watauga county that is trying to reach out and help disconnected communities. I mention that because it is legit and would be tax deductible if that matters to you.
