well this was under general chit chat then i remembered no one really reads that so i put it here.

hey guys i'm somewhat new to the forum, i'm 18 live in charlotte have a sponsor and drive an 89 ramcharger. I'll post pics as soon as i get my lift and tires installed. Which by the way i'm in the south charlotte area so if there is anyone somewhat knowledgable that would be willing to work with me on a saturday or sunday i'd pay i'm not asking for you to give up a day but i'm just having a lot of problems getting it on. Well anyways if anyone wants to help cool if not i'll figure it out eventually. Just wanted to introduce myself and i've met a few of you but looking foward to getting to know others and wheeling with some of you. talk to yall later

Shouldn't be too big of a job on that truck - Personally I only put a lift of the newer Dodges, but not too much difference - everyone on this site is willing to help if you need it in any way - everyone on here is very helpful. Just take a stab @ it and if you need help, just respond back. First question, how many inches are you going on the lift and tires?

right now stock with saggy springs i'm running 33's i have a brand new set of 35" pro comp mt's, i'm putting a 4" lift on it. Yah dealing with people on this site has turned out to be very helpful. I've been working on the lift removed shocks am able to put those back on but having big trouble with the springs, shouldn't be hard i know but its turning into a job. the kit is springs front and rear. I'm really just in need of a hand. I've got plenty of friends that wanna help but they just don't know what theyre doing. I would take it over to a shop but just can't get it there as a u-joint is busted as well and forgive me but havn't changed one before and a little caucious. But i appreciate the reply and look forward to hearing back from some of you guys.

Let me ask you this, are you having problems mounting the springs in the shackles/hangers, or what?? If you got four new leafs already built then they should bolt right in. You just need to support the frame with jack stands and start taking the u-bolts off (make sure the tires are still on the ground at this point). Take the old springs out and bolt up the new ones - you should have new bushings and all. It would probably be a good idea to replace your shackle/hanger bolts at this point while your there. Is this the step you are having a problem with?? Installing the new springs?

i'm having trouble removing the bolts that hold the springs. Also i'm lost with the steering block. I appreciate the time RDDC. I didn't think this would be a big job for me but i'm just having trouble with it.

Okay, that is normally an issue with most trucks. You will probably need to get a good 1/2 ratchet that is very long to give you good leverage. Leverage is the key. I don't know what tools you have, but sometimes you have to cut them off with a grinder or a torch. Do you have any of these tools?

nope, neither a grinder nor a torch kinda helps in this situation, i figured it would have to be cut off, thats kinda why i was looking for someone maybe to lend a hand with install.

If you could make the trip up to Davie County - I would be glad to help out. If you are worried about the U-Joint buy a new one and drive it up. I am about 45 minutes from you though. There members that live in Charlotte on this site and when they see this, they may be able to come over to your house. You could go buy a 4 1/2 electric grinder for pretty cheap. Harbor Freight has them for like $10 or something close. That may be easier for you.

i appreciate it RDDC to bad your that far away or i would take that offer up in no time i may try to toss a new u bolt back on and put the shock back on and see if i could limp it over there.

I just put a 4 inch on my girlfreinds RC and your right the bolts holding the leaves on, especialy the shackle side, are an absolute pain in the ass to get off. I got the nut off of with my six foot cheater bar but spent another two hours pounding to get the bolt off. Their splined and pressed in so it takes a little bit of big hammer convincing to get them off. The steering block isnt all that hard to do either PM me if you want some tips and tricks. But as far as that goes it really limits the flex of your new leaf springs. The next thing were planning on doing to hers is crossover conversion. Good luck with the lift RC's can be some nasty machines.
Oh and you might already know this but www.RamchargerCentral.com has got a ton of good info on these things.

thanks general yah i'm always on rcc. so after the nut comes off its just a matter of pounding out the bolt? I probaly will pm you for some help with the steering block. thanks.
