today as i was pulling out of the parking lot my 85 4runner with a 22RE died. went to diagnose and found it is not getting any spark due to blowing a fuse, the bottom left one on the fuse block.

^that one

i am missing the cover to my fuse block and do not know what this is for. any idea what that fuse is for and what would cause it?

thanks

scroll down 3/4 page 4Crawler is the answer guide to most all things 4Runner

EFI circut, not uncommon, clean the ground connection at the intake

May also think about replacing fuel filter possibly the fuel pump.

well found some little piece that was not grounded down near the coil got that tightened down and put new fuse in. it cranked ran for a while but whenever i would put it in drive it blows the fuse. same thing every time. will run and even run in reverse til i put it in drive and instantly blows the fuse.

any ideas guys?

well stop putting it in drive, duh...

Now to ask a stupid question - did you replace that fuse w/ the right amp size?
I'm assuming thsi is an auto tranny vehicle? What about neurtral?
As far as hunting down teh problem arrea, my first thoughts are it could be related to either (a) something that is only only in D but no other position, or (b) related to low engine RPMs, as you have idling in D...

Wiggle test

start vehicle, raise hood, have assitant put vehicle in drive, watch to see if and how much engine moves, then have them tap throttle ( set parking brake, and have foot on brake when doing this, also DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF VEHICLE!! )

I'm wondering if motor mount isn't broken, and pulling on O2 sensor harness, or maybe said harness is rubbed thru and shorting on master cyl or some other near by item. O2 sensor circut shares same fuse (according to the partial schematic I have)

look for any harness that my be drawn tight, give it a "wiggle" if same or similar happens, you may have found the problem.

Electrical issues suck !

i would try that but as soon as it hits drive it pops the fuse. i will try the wiggle test with it idleing however

yes replaced it with the correct 15 A fuse.

yes it is auto.

found out what it was. some wire on the main wire harness for the EFI got cut by a hose clamp and was grounding out. just glad to have it running!
