June 24th out in Washington state one of our Isuzu friends was driving with his kids in his truck when a Jackass hit him and rolled his amigo onto its roof. One of the boys was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries requiring major reconstructive surgery.

What happened: The jackhole, Ottoboni - pic above, was rushing his dog to the vet after it was hit by a car. He was doing speeds in excess of 100mph and crossed several lanes and hit our friend Jeff and his sons. Then the guy took off with the dog, NOT even checking to see if they were okay. The police caught up with him and arrested his ass - smelling of alcohol of course. Top it all off the dog dig not survive. (yeah)

The guys on planetisuzoo have started a little fundraiser for the bills above and beyond Jeff's capabilities and insurance. Plus one more piece of bad news: Ottoboni didn't have any insurance. Damn.

There are a few links to the story here:

and on the news out west

We've started a paypal donation link on the Planet for Jeff.

Go here if you want to Donate - and thanks to all those that do. I would hope that if any of us were in this situation that we should be so lucky to have a good community to look out for us too.
God Bless his family and we hope for the best.

Here are some pics of his truck and Jeff and his youngest boy as of the other day.

I'm sure he knows this, but this Ottoboni charactar is still financially responsible regardless of having insruance or not. All insurance does is speed up the process.
Jeff can still sue him for any and all expenses, P&S, etc, and w/o question will win, and get anything/everything he has as payment. Whatever he can't pay now (which could be most of it I'm sure) the state will still make him pay over time.
Doing the lawsuit sucks ass but in the end, Ottoboni will have to pay all the court/lawyer costs too.

Dave yep, true. And we learned recently that he is gettin a lawyer and gonna do exactly just that.

Thanks to those that do give. I'm gonna as soon as I get paid next time.

Most insurance companies include uninsured motorist insurance with liability. This should cover part of the damages....I don't know about the hospital bills but it should pay for the vehicle

95% of the time, uninsured/underinsured motorists is NOT part of the standard minimum liability coverage. For example our cars have full coverage for everything, but my 4Runner is just the minimum liability... plus U/UM just for this reason. It costs extra, but not too much. I do it just b/c, wel, I don't trust anybody...

Even with it though, while your insurance wil now cover the costs, you're still out the deductable etc and it's only for whatever the limit of coverage is, like $50k etc. W/ major medical costs like this, chances are it won't cover it all.

FYI in many states, you can actually (legally) recieve compensation from your auto insurance, the other person's auto insurance, AND your medical insurance all for teh same expenses. But that's probably another trhead, don't want to pull thsi O/T.

Nationwide does...I had a vehicle get hit in a hit and run and the driver was caught. My uninsured covered everything (carwise). No one was hurt.
