So I have some 63in chevies to put on my toyota. The problem is I can't get the old leafs off at the mounts. I tried beating them with a sledge, dousing them in penetrator, and even prying the leaf eyes open and using a socket and pounding the bushing out but nothing worked. And I can't heat them because I need the old rubber bushings. There has to be an easier way to do this. NEED HELP FAST!!! has to be ready by tomorrow night!!

cut the side of one of the mounts, or insert a wedge between the frame and spring eye and hammer/move spring.

still no luck, if we just cut the front mounts off that will work but the problem is that we still cant get the rear off its mount, just cant seem to push the bolt out through the bushing

Try using a car jack? Maybe by putting it on the spring and jacking it up will push the leaf down and spread the spring away from the mount. Just an idea. I used this method with my shackle lift on my YJ.
