Ok here we go, I lost my job Dec.24 and sold my truck and got this 1999 Cherokee xj sport with 130,000 miles. Have money left from the selling my 2004 f150 and still looking for a job or unemploymnent to start. Got tax money back so its my bill money... So what I'm getting at is this will be my dd and weekend trail rig and beach. Its already got a 4.5 inch lift with new rear springs. I have a buget of 2,500 to 3,000 to do some mods to this. What would you guys get done first beside the tires and rims, they came with it and there 245-70-17 MTR with 3000 miles on them, maybe sell them and get 15 rims and 32's or keep the rims and get bigger tires.. Help me out I just moved, job less and don't know where to go first on this thing.
So gears or rim and tires, bumpers or what...
PS wanted Nates winch bump but don't know much about him, talk to him today and said he could ship one buy this Friday.
Thanks for any help, steven

Just try to get some work done to it while im wanting on unemployment or finding a job. I have a camper at lake tillery and want to get backup there to will and fish.. I was wanting lunch box lockers for it but the 8.25 rear only found one and its an aussie and there backorder.cagain thanks guys

Don't spend any $$ on the jeep and drive it like it is. Save your $$ for when the unemployment and tax money runs out.

I agree with them, but if you really want to spend some money on it, I would sell the tires and wheels and get some 15" wheels and some 32s or 33s, then some rock sliders or a new front/rear bumper

look for good deals or trades on here but save a big chunk of the money for harder times.

sell or trade the wheels and tires for some 15's and 33s, save the money, if a deal pops up you cant pass up, you have the cash to jump on it. Don't let it burn a hole in your pocket.

I say trade/sell the jeep for a cheap, reliable used car. Cheaper on gas, cheaper to insure, and no need to upgrade. Make that unemployment last as long as possible. You can pick up another trail rig when you have a job, and more money to burn.

The wheels are a little over the top, BUT they are round and doing their job.
Really nice looking jeep though.

Trade wheels and tires off, for some black steelies and 32's or 33's ,and save coin for a rainy day.

I like the jeep!

im on the same page as everyone else. take care of your financial situation before you spend on the jeep.

I agree with most of the above. Don't dump money into it if you are currently out of work. If you "must" spend some money on it, I'd trade your current wheels and tires for some 15" black steelies w/ 31-33" a/t's and some cash. The a/t's would last longer since it's your dd and you can use any extra cash you get in the deal to buy something else for the Jeep.

I would save the money until you get a job.

But if you are set on making some changes, here is a list of items/mods to consider.

- Sell current 245's and rims
- Buy 33" MT's and 15" rims
- Buy winch and winch bumper
- Buy sliders/rock rails
- Regear axles to 4.10's
- Locker for rear axle
- Locker for front axle

If you buy some/all of that stuff used and do some/all of the work yourself, you should be able to do most or all of that list.
