I posted this in the wanted section with no luck. I need to rent or borrow a bead hone. I am honeing the cylinders on my 22re. Someone in or close to Winston Salem, thanks for any help.

Bead hone is an expendable tool ( it wears as you use it )

they are not that expensive, about $20-$30 at most parts stores

You need to check your facts before you offer up your opinion about something you know nothing about. A stone hone may sell for that, but a bead hone sells for about $90.00. But thanks for your comments.

Well, I stand corrected, if I were working on a lawwnmower I could get one in the price range you used. But since I am working on an engine with a 92mm bore the cheapest is still $45.00. Also most parts stores in my area do not keep the bead, flex hone in stock. Thanks for all your help.

If your willing to spend up to $90 on a crappy flex hone job, why not just take it to a machine shop and get an align hone - it will be less than buying the tool and a much better hone job.

I ask if anyone had a flex/bead hone I could rent or borrow. I did not ask the price of the hone, or any other ways to hone my block, which is still in the truck. So if you don't have a hone I can rent or borrow, why post anything else?

This is Chit Chat. you will get opinions here even if you don't ask. You were given an option by Kevin, which makes his living with his tools, and a very knowledgeable guy automotively. Sometimes we have to look at options, and sometimes questions are answered in ways we don't expect or desire. But this is above all a help board and he took his time to offer some help. You in turn smarted off to him. Not a way to make friends on this board. Back up and rethink this.

I guess you guys thought I didn't do any research or try to locate a hone before I ask to rent or borrow one. While the people that offered replies probably had good intentions, they did not answer the basic question I ask. So if I had ask how much I could buy a hone for and where I could buy one, or what are my options for honeing my Toyota 22r block, then yeah they answerd the question. If you go back and read my first post, you will see that I didn't ask those questions. Before you start telling me how to win friends and influence people, think that maybe I feel the same way about people not answering my question and giving advice that I did not ask for. Just some food for thought for you.

I found a hone. Thanks for all of your responses.

Yeah it sure does suck when somebody gives you some free advice thats not EXACTLY what you were looking for, I mean what are these people thinking robbing you of four maybe even FIVE seconds of your precious time to read their post. :shaking:

I can't beleive someone would come in here, ask to rent or borrow something, then bitch about a revered board member offering them advice on how to get what they want done for $30...

I am sorry, but "if" I happened to have one, it would continue to rest confortably in the bottom drawer of my box.:shaking:

you are as retarded as the last 2 guys that posted on this. Read my fucking lips," I didn't ask for any fucking advice" what is so hard to understand?

Why doesnt this guy have "underage user" under his name????

If you really think that this is the attitude needed, or accepted on this board, please go away.
First of all, I wasn't even commenting on your dumbass rants, or opinions. I was commenting on how stupid your actions were, especially for someone wanting a favor from another board member.
Second, if and when we ever meet on the trail, I won't "read your f***ing lips, I'll bust one of them for you. Now go away.
Maybe you should try the PBB. You can get your ass handed to you by the much tougher e-thugs.:fuck-you:

LOL

Hey Chris, welcome to the retard club, along with Kevin and myself. sorry to cut it short, got to go eat some tater tots, put on my helmet and go for a ride on my ZOOOOOOM bike:bounce2:
