I need some help the vehicle is not 4wd but I thoght ya'll could help. It is a 1993 GMC C1500 with the 350 engine. It has power steering and the power steering box has a fair amount of play in it. It is still safe to drive but it bothers me. What I need help doing is finding a rebuild kit for it or a good place to buy another box. I have already called the typical auto parts stores but they seem expensive and they do not have a rebuild kit for it. Thanks in advane.

Are you sure it is the box??
IOW - have you checked out the rest of the steering, linkage, box mounting, etc?

HAve you tried adjusting it?

On the top of the box........see the stud sticking out with the lock nut on it and the recessed allen key?Thats where you adjust it..........make sure you need to adjust it first of all ie: check your steering links first. Then get you an allen wrench and hold the stud and loosen the nut, then turn the allen wrench clockwise just a little, and re tighten the lock nut.......dont tighten the stud but a small amount at a time. You can get it too tight and your steering will lock up........:huggy:

I used to work at advance auto parts and I'm fairly sure we had rebuild kits with seals and everything in it for chevys because I was looking at them and and boxes because I was doing crossover steering on my K5. You might want to try calling around some more and try to get someone on the phone who knows what they are talking about. I know that can be hard, I used to work with some really not so smart people.
