From what I've found on the interwebz, I ordered an adjustable flow control restrictor valve to keep the dump bed of my C30 from lowering with gravity. It has a hydraulic schematic on it and I don't know the first thing about them and my google-fu is failing me...

The part description is Hydraulic In-Line Adjustable Variable Flow Control Valve w/ Free Rev Flow, 3/4" NPT & the schematic is on the body:

I believe I'll need to install it backwards to free flow when raising and restrict the flow when lowering. My gut feeling on the schematic is from left to right is the adjustable flow part and from right to left is the bypass? Can anybody confirm, deny or point me in the right direction? Unfortunately the guy I was using to rebuild the dump pump left me hanging and I'm trying to figure it out.

Hose from the base end of your hoist cylinder into the left side of the valve as shown, right side of the valve into your directional control valve. Imagine that check ball on the bottom has a spring on the left side of it, free flow from right to left, closed from left to right requiring your fluid to travel through the flow control
