help with stereo

in my 91 yj, i have a sony cd player installed but it wont work. ive checked the wires and all the connections, they are all good. any ideas on how ot get the soncy cd am/fm radio to start working? if i missed something that would be great to know what. ive traced all the wires back to where they go and they are all conected from wat i can see. pls help

Do you own a test light or preferrably a digital voltmeter? If not, go purchase one, it will tell you whats wrong with pretty much every electrical issue you have.
 
make sure you have a good ground, The red and yellow wires are both hot wires make sure there hooked up. some times they wont come on if the yellow is not hooked up.

There should be two hot power wires - one switched and one always hot. The always hot is for radio memory. The switched one is the actual power wire. There is one ground, and sometimes, there is a power antenna wire. It supplies switched power to a power antenna from the radio. I've seen people hook this to 12 volt hot power by mistake because the wording is kinda confusing in the instructions sometimes.
