just bought a 84 ford and the rear diff is missing teeth.would you rebuild the locker or buy a new rear end. it's a 8.8 with a stock diff. i need a new lift 6'' is what i thinking. the last guy had justput blocks and spring spaces. tires rub when you turn.
plus it has 3.55 gears would 4.10 be better with 35s thank for your input

Prepare for an all out ragging about stickies and where to post and how to post pics and all the stuff you should know. Take the beating, and harass back (nicely though, you don't have a diamond yet) and you'll fit in fine.

Ford rears are a dime a dozen. check the for sale section. i would imagine a junkyard 8.8 or even 9 would be pretty cheap. But if you plan on building an axle and replacing the broken parts anyway, why not just build what you have.

the 8.8 has a decent reputation for strength 35s would probably be pushing it though.

i suppose if it were mine, i'd be shopping for a 9".

hey thanks for the welcome heres the kicker. im new to nc only been here for a year. just a alabama boy learning to adjust. we learn', about as slow as we talk:lol:

If you need some help with the work, I recommend Minton's Automotive in Granite Falls, about 10 miles from Lenoir. Knows his stuff, particularly 4x4s, 3DCRAWLER on this board.

BTW, Welcome to NC! i have a few friends in AL and they are slo :)
