Need opinions on what ya'll think it would take to do one YJ tub exterior including hood & fenders? Rolling it on by the way. I have two gallons now but should I get three to be on safe side (its for my RELEASE THE KRAKEN build, so it's actually 1 3/4 YJ tubs). Thanks for opinions.

It took almost 10 gallons, IIRC, to do inside and out of a 78 Cherokee (2-door FSJ). And you could still see some of the original white showing through after 2 complete coats.

10, good lord. I think I'll spray it on with a Schutz gun.

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to have Line-x or something sprayed on at that point?

edit: Altoid, I did my entire interior of my 1996 ZJ with 1 gallon. Looking back, I wish I'd used two just to increase the thickness of the material.

I would think 2 or 3 cans would suffice. Use light coats so that if you do need more, you can just order another gallon and continue applying without worrying about whole sections being bare.

@$100 per gallon, that is pretty expensive. Can't be sprayed on either.
There are probably other products that will protect as well but easier and less costly to put on.

Did my YJ a few years ago. Took less than one gallon. Wish I had put a second coat on. Still holding up, though, except where my right foot rubs next to the accelerator pedal.

Pics of it on the outside? I've seen inside tubs done in Herc and didnt like the BIG chunks of rubber? it has in it. 10 seems like a HUGE amount.

Altoids check out monstaliner.com, here is HUGE thread about it

Linex is the best though, my jk tub and front bumper are linex'd

Go with Al's liner... Just sprayed a buddies 4 door Jk with it, It's a much smoother surface (easier to get dirt and sand out of) but from what I've see so far it's tough as nails. You can spray it too, which gives it an awesome uniform appearance

whatever you do, dont roll it on, it will look like a pile of :poop:

Harbor Freight sells a ceiling texturing gun $19.99, they work great for spraying bedliner materials

I used the HF gun, and the Rustoleum bedliner material from wally world on the commanche bed and it turned out great

2 gallons total for the bed, wanted it thick

hootus...that is all

Sprayed it yesterday, with help from my buddy (The Beast) 1 3/4 YJ (True 4 Door) tub, hood, fenders & 4 half doors, 1 gallon sprayed with Schutz gun. Applied second lighter coat also & did interior. Then painted MIL Spec black on top of that. Looks bad ass. I'll post pics in build thread later.
