They made me repeat my freshman year over and im now a sophmore and 17 which means that i wont graduate till im 19 and 3 months .. I now hate school bcause of it and i dread going..i need opinions i want to find a online school where i can get my diploma thats not a scam any ideas or sites??
what would yall do???
thanks
tony

i am really considering a ged and i want to join the army but idk i want my hsd though but i cant stand regular school.. can anyone help me find something online were i can take a test for my diploma..

dont know where ur located exactly but most comm colleges have online "distance learning" courses....im currently enrolled in one now actually thru central piedmont community college, and its great....the only prob is that you have to attend a 4-5 day orientation, meet with a counselor and then attend a couple hour orientation to get set up for the online parts.....if you cant find anywhere around your area and are dead set on this ill help you get enrolled an find out when the next courses etc would be and i have a spare bedroom/office that i could spare for that time period.....if i were you id at least ride out the rest of this year considering its almost done

and yes it is full on HSD...........wait a min...just had a thought, i think you have to be 18 for cpcc's hsd program........if your interested ill look into it

yea im deff interested in it also im located in clayton about 20 min from smithfield so jcc isnt that far from me.. lmk id really appreciate it

Wake Tech is a fantastic comm college, and isn't too painful of a drive either.
Have you talked to your guidance councilor? This is exactly what they are there for.
If it's been 3 years since you moved, this issue of graduating waaay late shoudl ave come u pa long time ago - pretty much as soo nas they made you repeat freshman year.

no im going to try and set up an appointment with her tomorrow.. it came up along time ago that i was going to graduate late but they said that there was nothing that i could do about it and now im just fed up with it i want to get started with a career you know??

Hey Tony, call JCC and talk to them about College High School. My best friend's son was having problems at Triple S and he started going there and loved it. Im sure you can use your previous credits there as well. It is not well known because it can be tough to get into. When you graduate, you will have college credits as well. JCC....College High School:beer:

yes thanks mike ive been researching that as well im going to call there tomorrow and see whats the deal with that.. man i need to find time to get this locker done everytime i have time off its shitty weather lol

Right now, Im good for Wednesday, Fiday, and maybey Saturday. Just let me know. Good Luck with JCC. I have heard alot of good things.

If at all possible, stick to high school. There are going to be many things in life that you don't like, but you still have to stick to it. I've had jobs before that I hated and I was miserable, but I stuck with it and I'm better for it. When I was in college, there was a point when I thought I was going to have to find a different major because a couple of classes were just too hard. I found free tutoring, stuck with the major, and now I love what I do. Good luck!

Kaplan has a decent reputation in the online education industry, Univ of Phx also has an online high school but I cannot seem to remember it at the moment.

However I would suggest instead going to visit your local community college and finding out about their program. At 17 years old you should be eligible and that would be a really good fit.

You will find that the community college system is SO MUCH better than attending high school. They will treat you like a real adult / who wants to be there. The difference between high school and college setting is HUGE!

Knock out your diploma/etc thru them and keep going and pursuing your college transfer degree or one of the other programs that interest you.

But I would pursue this pretty hard / online is MUCH HARDER than attending a local class. Online is closer to self-study which takes a tremendous amount of discipline to succeed in.

I have been teaching accounting at Univ of Phx and Keller Univ for several years now and I can tell you I would hire a online grad WITH good grades in a heart beat. I know what they had to have done to get those grades / tells me alot about that person.

I work for Johnston County Schools as the Transition Coordinator. My office is in Smithfield but I can meet with you at school if you'd like and we can discuss options for you. I can put you in touch with the right folks to help you weigh your options and make a good decision.

BTW....you dont want a GED. (personal opinion)

My personal opinion is to stick it out in High School. I have two friends that dropped out of HS, and both regret it every single day. Both have their GEDs now, but say that they are not really considered the same as a HS Diploma. Tough it out for a few more years and you will not regret it for the next 40 years like you would if you drop out.

Even if you are going military, Bachelor>associate>HSD>GED
Give him a call, with the job market right now, you do NOT want to be looking for a career.
That being said, if you can get into doing the community college and stick it out to get the associate's degree, it would be ~ 2 years if you go through summers etc full time and you'll have quite a few more options.

I've only made one really stupid choice in my life, and that was taking a job instead of finishing my college cause of the "awesome money I could be making" pre Y2k.
I've been paying for that choice severely since then. Both in job choices, and in actual salary in those jobs.

Good luck, and 2 years is a very short time frame when you talk about the rest of your life.

Thanksguys chris i will give u a call around 3 pm when i get outa school

If you get a chance, go find Mrs Peele (down by the ROTC room). Tell her you need to talk to me and she will let you use the phone. Im headed to WJHS is a bit and can swing by there if you want me to.
