I decided I wanted to build some tube doors rather than shell out the money for some premade ones.

Found a local Engineering student (ChrisM from this forum!) with a bender and a great eye for angles, and we went to work! Chris is good at this stuff and I plan on keeping him busy with projects. Thanks Chris!

Several different plans, different layouts but we thought this would look best. Ended up using 1 1/2" DOM tubing, so this thing is STRONG!

Nice little pneumatic/hydraulic bender!

Next weekend, door #2, then finishing and paint...

Stay tuned!

David, I appreciate the kind words and I'm looking forward to getting them done this weekend. Oh, see what you can do on those latches, you know we can't put bungees on there. :huggy:

And I've got to thank Chase for whoring out his bender to me. I finally got the die I need, now just to find more metal. Hmm...

Oh, and I need a haircut.

Nice doors ive got a bender to, and was looking to make some doors for my xj to run this summer and have a friend who wants some for a tj. Whats the best way you have found to get your angles right.

Once we drew up a desig we both liked, we laid it out on the garage floor with chalk/soapstone then eyeballed it on the bender. Bend a little, lay it out, bend a little more, ahhh... that's the ticket!♦
