I'm looking at another cool little build to start...

Looking at using the honda 4cylinder with transaxle, etc.

any ideas of what years are the best and which transaxles tend to be better than others?

94-2000 integra LS motor is a very simple motor and puts out decent torque down low. Or a late 90's CRV had a B20 motor that was the LS motors big brother. Both are non-vtec and widely available for super cheap, junkyard I went to Saturday had 4 of each.

The 3.0-3.5ltr V6's also made good power and are pretty widely available. Just make sure if you get one of those you get the Ridgeline ecu for it.

^ditto

B-series engines are DOHC, btw. iirc, SI transmissions have the lowest final drive ratio, where the LX/DX series have higher ones.

to make this interesting, this is NOT for a 4x4 or a crawler :D

so, power, torque, power to weight ratios, and as always, affordability are important!
Another important aspect is aftermarket support and integration of an EFI into a custom rig. I know ZERO about honda 4 cylinders beyond that they are popular and can be had for an affordable price

I would say run a k but you're trying to save $$. A h22 is easy to find, just ditch the balance shafts and ksport makes a nice adapter to run the k20 intake manifold on them to get more room and much more power.

Whats it going in and I may be able to help more

And aftermarket efi control is a breeze. Run chrome, neptune, ect. All freeware and as long as you can solder they are easy to chip the ecu. Or I can do any of it, I have a few ecu's on the shelf ready to go.

I'm going to build the motor (stock with minor upgrades to start) with as much power as I can afford, hook it up to a capable transaxle, and put it in an all aluminum chassis car that I build. Super light, small, nimble, and fun. Will likely look something similar to a Prowler but with my tweak on it and definetly better looking :D

Its not happening soon, the buggy is on the list to finish rebuilding first, then on to this little project. Its either this or an outlaw hot rod with lots of motor and coolness; I'm weighing my options

i was building a vw buggy with a ariel atom vibe, had double hoops behind the driver and passenger heads. just had to focus the money on my jeep and traded it to quickracer on here for some tube work.

yep, something similar but I'm not running a windshield that high and it will be all aluminum. At least thats the plan, and will be mid engine
