Hey everyone,

I used ot be on the old board but left when it closed.... I am down in Greenville, and am looking for some Info...

On my 04 Duramax I am running a Edge Juice Attitude and 4" exhaust, etc... The stock tranny is starting to go so I am looking into either a ATS or SUncoast and found that HoneyCutt (Suuth Wilmington in Raliegh) is a Certified Dealer/Installer for ATS and to get the Full Warranty from ATS my under standing is that a Dealer must install the Tranny!!!

Anyone have any experience with them????? If not are there any other tranny shops you guys reccomend in the area????

This is my DD and I would install it myself as I will be getting the whole Unit to replace new case and all, but I'm paying for that 2-3 yr. warranty so I want to get its benefits to cover my DD/Tow-rig...

THANKS
WILL

Honeycutt removed my ATS, and did a decent enough job at it...

ATS trannies are fine if you like this:

I'm MUCH happier with my DTT than I ever was with the ATS.. better shifting, puts the power down better, and a tighter TC.

I think there is a local builder not too far from you, I seem to remember him being southeast of Raleigh.

If you don't believe me about ATS.. Ask Honeycutt how many of the ATS trannies they have installed have had to come back.. If he tells you every single one, he's being truthful.

Here's something else to consider. All ATS transmissions are built in Colorado. If the tranny has a problem, an authorized dealer will most likely have to remove the trans (if it's anything more than something VERY simple), crate it, ship it to CO, and they will tear it down.

Not sure about suncoast, but my DTT was built here. Any problems would be dealt with here, without the 2 week downtime of shipping things to colorado on a truck.

The guy who built my tranny is in VA Beach, but there are NC builders, I just knew him from one of the diesel boards, and yes, he does Ally's, too.

(Other than billet input/intermediate, & output shafts, my trans is identical to the one in his personal truck, which was 620/1250 at the wheels last year... he's now spraying, and has bigger turbos... Yeah, the man can build a trans.)

I can put you in touch with him, if you'd like.

an '04, shouldnt it be under warranty? Just pull the edge out and take it to a dealer. Not enough mods to be drag racing or really have any effect on torque converter or anything, why you need a new tranny already, overloading it?

Yea, I hear ATS has been having some problems lately but so has DTT and Suncoast!!!!

I am just looking at all the angles right now.. STUDNUTZ - I can Limp my Allison at will in Levels 4 and 5 and have done a 5th gear Limp in Level 3 before... There isn't anything a GM Dealership around here will do about it even if I take the Edge out after it has limped again (leave stored Code) as the problem will not be able to be re-produced without a power adder when the Tech. goes on a ride-along....

It seems ATS is having some serious issues lately especially on the GM Diesel boards, but Suncoast is in Florida so a ride down may be worth it to get a warranty install as I know of NO SUNCOAST Dealers near NC...

May have to talk to some others about DTT I knwo 2 guys running thier stuff after going Twins on there D-max's with them!!! They seem happy!!!

THANKS GUYS
WILL

BTW: RICH..... Was your tranny a re-man case READY TO GO from DTT or did you just get a builder to install DTT parts to thier Spec. ????

My tranny was built in VA by the builder, as all DTT transmissions are. The valve bodies are made at the HQ in Canada. That's why DTT is so strict on their builders following their instructions and tolerances to the letter, and they also go up to Canada for training every year...

If ya want, come up to Raleigh, I'll let ya drive my CTD, and you can feel how good the tranny drives...

Thanks Man, I ay take you up on that...

I know DTT makes Killer Dodge Trannies, but the folks who are testing thier new Allison stuff are having mixed results as any new area would though!!!!!

iTs kind of 50% good/bad on the Allison stuff right now!!! I may come up for a spin though anyway as I would love to talk to you about some sliders and bumpers for my Red truck!!!
