01 jeep XJ I have a, afe magnum force cold air intake and just put a Throttle Body spacer and now the hood is a bitch to close and has a lump in the hood. My question is, has anyone ran into this and what they did to rectify the problem other than different intake setup has anyone massaged a bump in the hood? And how you went about that? Thanx

you can shim the rear of the hood. some guys do it to help with heat etc... may help there too.

Taking it off is free too and probably a lot easier than putting a bubble or scoop in your hood. You're not gaining any performance with it.
This, just remove it. It serves ABSOLUTELY no purpose except maybe a funny whistle. On modern MPFI engines there is absolutely no benefit, except possibly moving your torque curve a miniscule amount by lengthening the effective length of the intake runners.

It served it's purpose on older carbureted and throttle body injected engines by atomizing and evenly distributing the mixture a bit more and if it was made from phenolic or insulating material keeping the fuel/air mixture cooler and denser by insulating the carburetor and throttle body from heat from the manifold.

On modern engines with an injector in the intake runner just before each cylinder it is nothing but a gimmick (and a good one at that, lots of people were duped by their claims).

Agreed. Take it off. Your hood will close fine, and you won't lose any performance.
