My 87 toyota pickup's horn is messed up. The horn itself works, we just replaced that, but when you push the button, the majority of the time it won't honk. Inspection is due so I need it to work. Does the horn button have to be on the steering wheel? Or can I rig up an auxilary switch and relay to give the horn power?

Most likely the contact under the button is worn, collapsed, or corroded. But yes, you can use a switch. They sell actual horn buttons to mount where ever.

yes you can mount it else where and still be legal if thats the ?. i had my air horn mounted on a toggle and my regular horn disconnected
