House on a well? Anything to worry about

If they ever annex this portion, I will jump on a sewer hookup the second it's available. Not crazy about doubling my water bill, but this neighborhood needs it. Our whole street was built by the same people and under the current guidelines none of the houses on the street would have been buildable because the soil is awful.
 
Be careful what you wish for. Our property taxes got cut in half when we moved to the county. :huggy:

I just got a letter 2 weeks ago about sewer hookup, one of the neighbor lots is going to to build a house so I've been offered hookup when they do the extension. $5k for hookup and lateral to run to edge of right-of-way, so I'm still responsible for the last 60 feet to the house (cost unkown). The garage wants to be where the tank is, and the drain field is 25 years old with no idea of maint history, so not a bad deal. Need to postpone garage for 9 months though.

Man, would I love that. Biggest problem I foresee with ours when the time comes (if it ever comes!) is that the septic line is currently at the farthest corner from the road and the slope might cause a problem. As it is, I'm probably staring at a 2,000+ septic repair bill when all is said and done if the problem continues to escalate. I am throwing Band-Aid fixes on it, but it's inevitable.

The project manager for the sewer extension suggested the same thing, he said the farthest corner happens to be the best spot because of elevation, which is quite a long distance from the house. The 60 feet is perpendicular to the road, which would be the ideal case. All I see is dollar signs, but I'm rolling the cost into the budget for the garage build. At least that's how I'm justifying it to myself...
 
Officially mine and moved in (mostly)! 750 sq foot garage, 200 sq foot shed, and there is some house thing too.

Some pretty interesting stuff we have been finding on the house. It has a 480 amp garage plug, along with about 5 220V connections in the garage also. There is a room behind the garage that can turn on the 480 amp switch also down in the garage and we can't figure out what they used it for. They also buried an air line from the garage to the room behind the garage also so I can run air up there now also.

back in the mid 90s, I had a neighbor who was a drunk and stayed that way. Would come over to use the phone to call his brother and I would talk and let him visit till the crying was over.One time,I hopped the back fence and into the woods lookin for one of our cats.Came across a few plants growing under a spreading oak tree.Just a few for "medicinal purposes" with a path straight to his back door. When he passed away,I found how he made his drinkin money.Shop out back was full of little plants, grow lights,and crates.Apparently he would start the plants off and at some point sell them to the actual growers.
