ive got a 93 xj and a set of 94 f350 single rear wheel axles and i would like to know if its worth the time to try to install them under my xj... i dont do much crawling but i do straight line mudslinging often

Honestly, depending on what you have done it would probably just complicate it, great addition but really and truely not necesarry unless your going big. We would need more info to determine if you need them.

have lots of $$$$$$$$$ on hand...Front swaps are far from cheap.

Would it not be much easier & cost effective to just put leaf springs up front?

Maybe for just going through the mud like he wants..still quit a bit of fab there. Ive never done the leaf swap so i cant talk about it..I know there was a guy on here that did it..maybe he will pop in on this..

But who wants leafs in the front?:flipoff2:

i dont have alot of horse power mods or anything but im tired of breaking my dana 30 and 35 i have a crew cab f350 single rear wheel with a bad tranny just sitting in my yard and i got to thinking about swapping axles i know id never break them running 35's moneys tight but i have time and unlimited access to a machine and welding shop but i work 3-11 pm 24 days a month:poop:

Well the d35 could be swapped for a 8.25 or xj d44 and live fine and be done fairly cheap.. The front could live with some trusing and alloy shafts. You could part the truck to pay for those upgrades. I would not run those axles with 35's. 37's would be the smallest tire I'd want to run with one ton axles.

hum.... well if i give up on the deal what would a set of good axles sale for? i drove the truck every day so i know there in good working order.

honestly if its a lp 30 and a d 35 with stock (assuming auto) 3.55s not much. most ppl on the boards tend to upgrade when the axle fails...
i could be wrong, but i figure 80 for the d30 and 50 for the 35. hp 30s go for 100-120 stock, and 8.25 for maybe 100 at pull apart

i was talking about my ford 60's

Oh, probably cheaper to buy an old truck and get them out, people who know what they have tend to sell the axles for about 1200-1500 a pair. The rears are cheap but the front axles are pretty high $$$

If you already have the axles (assumingly) and access to a metal/welding shop I would definitely run them. Rear is easy weld on perches. Front seams easy to. If you are gonna do it get some or make some frame stiffners. Build a crossmember with mounts, make your front axle mounts and trac bar mount and Long arms and weld it up. Could possibly be done in a weekend if you have everything before you start. You also need to remember you need to build Long control arms with joints and drive shafts a trac bar. Do a littles research aand you will see some people do that swap. Personaly I have a 44 front and 9" combo and did mine in a weekend.
