How to repair front door?

Some time ago our front door separated from the door jamb interior, its got a 1/4" gap between the trim piece and the actual door. Same for the floor and the door as well..same size gap. Almost looks like someone slammed it hard and it moved forward quite a bit.

It opens and closes fine, but ive been worried for sometime about water leakage and critters getting in, and spotted a cockroach in that crack tonight. With those things, the saying "where there's smoke there's fire" applies for sure. I figure I need to knock this thing out soon, and being that Im here myself most of the time, and have nothing to do this summer, I dont see why I cant do it myself.

Anyways, how exactly should I go about fixing this? Its hard to describe, so If anyone needs pictures to figure out what I am asking, let me know and I'll snap some...Any help is appreciated.

Aren't you renting? This is something to hit up a landlord for. Should not be your expense.
Point out the fact that it is a majot potential for water and bug penetation, that will get him moving on it.

If the frame and door really have shifted apart from one another... it may not be that easy to fix. May require pulling teh whole frame and re-setting it.
If it is just a gap - you can get weatherstripping from Lowes to fill in the space... but that is probably not the RIGHT solution.

I'd like to see picts, I'm trying to figure out what you're talking about. A door (especially a front door) can only go so far forward before 1. it hits the door jam, and 2. the hinges bottom out. the weather stripping should be on the jam so the door closes up against it and pinches to a seal.

Got picts?
