I have been told you can convert your ac compressor to just pump air for onboard air and just wanted to see what all is intailed in doing so. I have a 79 bronco with a 351m that has a compressor that is not locked up and wanted to convert it if it was not to hard.

Not hard at all.
Run the positive wire to a switch and bypass the prerssure switch.
Determine which line on the a/c pump is in and which is out.
Cut the lines leaving enuff length to work with.
WAIT! First you have to have the a/c goo-stuff ( freon) in the system re-claimed by a qualified tech.
Now cut the lines.
Using brass fittings ( a couple of handfulls will work) conjure up an inline oiler attached to barb fitting on the intake and a quick dissconnect for an air hose on the outlet. Might wanna put a guage in there somewhere.
Here's mine on a '87 zook.

The blue lines on mine go here....

A 3 gallon tank.
I can air up 4 32 " tires in less than 7 minutes.
You need a pop-off valve in the mix and if you dont have a tank you need 2 people or and always open air-chuck.
Here is a link to the info I used to build mine

Some ac compressors are better than others. I'm not sure what type compressor you have on your Bronco. York compressors are oiled seperately from there air supply, which are one of the ones recommended for on-board air (OBA). I picked up a lot of info on www.CJoffroad.com .
Later, T.J.

Broncos used the York.

I live in Burlington and if you get the parts needed, I will help you install it. You will need a York compressor, a pressure switch (new or from an old home model compressor), a tank of some kind (I have one for $10) some hose and fittings, and a toggle switch. I put this same setup on my CJ and it works great. PM me and I will explain a little more.

How would one go about doing this on a YJ engine? I'm running a YJ 4.0 in my CJ, and wouldn't mind adding OBA. If someone could PM me it would be great.

Just get an AC bracket off a wagoneer. You will prolly have to modify it to fit but as long as you can get a belt on it....it wil work.
