Well apparently this IS the correct place to discuss such topics,

And a post last night got me thinking.
(I mean this post in the most good hearted way possible)

BUT

if you had a large sum of money, let's ...say... Oh.... I don't know .... maybe 60K to "invest" in a vehicle, let's say a hmmm. make it interesting .... maybe a jeep yeah yeah a jeep rubi. how would you spend that 60k?

I'm thinkin
2k lift
1k on shocks
1k tires
1k rims
3k new bad ass motor
2k new bad ass matching tranny
2k custom 5 speed double doubler T-Case
1K on bombproof driveshafts
2k new mac'd out front 60
1k mac'd out rear 60
2k on the mother of all cages
1k new customer race interior
1k new exhaust, window decals, and hot rod stickers
2k new bad azzzz bumpers
5k GPS, killer stereo, DVD, misc entertainment.
2k World pullin winch

Ok I've tried to be extra generous on price so there shoudln't be any shortages

that totals 29K.. add 2 K for taxes... that leaves 29K to pay for installation.....
Any volunteers to do the work for me :D

Any other ideas on how to spend 60K?

Your forgot truck nutz and that sparkly color shifting paint stuff.

I'm damn sure wouldn't put it into a TJ of any kind...

$25k - rig
$35k good down payment on used toterhome.. :D

it wouldn't go towards a rig, but instead to a concrete floor, 3 bay garage, with a big ol wood heater, plenty of storage, a lift, 12' twin roll up doors. Oh well, it's Christmas time, a man can dream.

Obviously you haven't priced a built axle lately.. :D $10k-ish would more buy you sub Camo60, but still very nice axles, something like a Sunray 60/9 with 1550 joints, and a rear 9, built to the hilt.

But I digress...

Rich,
you at least should know what started this thread. You got deleted just like me :flipoff2:

For everyone else, I would never spend 60K on any rig...
Its just a rhetorical question if you had to spend 60K on a jeep rubi, coul you... And have anything that resembles a jeep left

OH well...

Oh I know... just pullin your chain... Maybe if he includes the duramax tow rig to pull the Rubicon around he'd have 60k into it...

$2k will not build a mac front 60.

OK point taken, but you CAN buil hella 60s for 2k...
I dont have half that in mine (including purchase price... ok half plus maybe $100) and its held up to anything a full size, 400 lb/ft and a loose nut behind the wheel could throw at it.

i would buy a mail order bride from russia, nah make it three.
buy one cherokee, one wrangler and then a tow rig.
9" fullwidths both rears with full width 44 fronts. like 35~37 inch swampers
gears lockers winch bumper and then play till it break something then use the rest of the money to upgrade what breaks

I think that can all be under 60K if you find the right prices. they have sales on the brides right around christmas time

Well, i'm not calling anyone a liar or anything, but considering the rubicon in question still has stock axles, tranny, and t case, as far as we know, i see no way that he has 60k in it. I could see at most 10k into it plus the 30k for the jeep to start with, but i believe that to be a little high.

If money wasn't a problem: 02-04 double cab taco, 60s, 39" krawlers, supercharged 3.4, atlas case, and i still wouldn't have close to 60k in it

Well, I'd finally be able to get my Jimmy set up like I'd really want it to be.

Or I might just look around for one of these in good shape...

Okay, seriously, I'd probably pay off my mortgage and use what's left on the Jimmy. Which would, in fact, be just about enough to get it set up like I'd want it.

Robitussin?

If you are paying someone to do the work for you, the cost definitely adds up. If you're doing it yourself, then you only look at the cost of parts and maybe tools.

So remember when doing this math - you have to include initial vehicle purchase price, and include labor for everything - you are not touching this yourself, you are paying someone to do it.

So like a set of tires/rims which might cost $1500 shipped to your door, you instead would be ordering them from a shop that will actually install them on your rig (not shopping around for the cheapest price), so it might be $2000 instead. We all know that prices vary WIDELY for the parts we buy.

I personally would follow the "upnover" model and spend my $60k to build a nice shop. I'm tired of working outside!

I would buy a tow rig, new couch, trailer, christmas gifts for the family, vacation, and leave the rest in an account drawing interest until needed. I would not spend one dime on my Jeep from it. Continue to save for the Jeep projects like I always have.

Why would you ask a rhetorical question in a message board? Isnt the whole point of a message board to get answers from others and a rhetorical question implies that you do not want answers from others. silly...
