So I have been thinking about wheels now that my truck is actually coming together... slowly... and hummer wheels seem to be the cheapest type of beadlock to get aside from the do-it-yourself kits. it seems i can find a set of 8 bolt hummers for about $200 online and was wondering if anyone around Raleigh can weld some centers and how much it would be. Just kinda thinking out loud and getting some figures in my head.

you can do the centers with out any special tools now, they sell a kind that centers itself. all you need is a grinder/plasma and a welder

The centers from that fawkwad in OK are $40/ea, the inserts are about $50/ea no matter where you look, plus the cost of the wheel, plus any small parts (o-rings, new nuts/studs/etc). Plus whatever it costs you to have somebody recenter your old ones.

it seems that either way (hummers or DIY) I will be over $500 before getting someone to do any welding. So i guess its just a matter of which ever I go after first? The reason the DIY stuff would still be expensive is that I would need to buy wheels since the ones i have now are mags.

the inserts for the hummers are what pinch the tire to the wheel?
