i have a 62 hurricane motor out of a cj5, bored .30 over with low miles on the rebuild. i also have the gm 2 wire alt. to go with it to replace the old generator. The motor comes with or without tranny and transfer case... i bassically have a 62 cj to part out but i was curious about what to ask for the motor and running gears... help if you can. thanks

most of these folks don't know what a hurricane engine is. That is the over head intake valve,134 cube 4 cylinder that Willys/Kiaser/AMC used through the late 40s through 71.

Very hard to price. Sometimes you can get good money for them, and sometimes youcant give them away. IF you have reciepts, you have a fighting chance to get a bit more money out of it. Used running motors i have seen going about 300-750. Since you have narrow base of enthusists that can use the motor, it may take longer to sell, just make sure you post on a few differnt forums to get the word out.

thanks guys... i am parting out the whole thing so ill put a few pics up in here and just let some folks see it and make offers on whatever they are interested in...

Are parts easily avail for these motors?

The negatives: Old motor, 4 cyl, parts not easily found
Positives: Runs, rebuilt, bored, comes w/ tranny

I would estimate it at around $400. $500-$600 w/ tranny & tcase.

Parts are not hard to get. Maybe not stocked in local auto parts palces all the time, but a quick call to some online retailers you can get what ever parts you need in a day or so. I am quite impressed on all the parts avaialble, you can pretty much build your own early jeep by just buying parts, given it would be a bit expensive after a while ;)

Hmmm, my dad's 3B runs the F-head and it's got tons of blowby. A fresh, drop in motor might be the answer. I'll start the bidding at $50!

There are some very good parts places for old cjs... (my favorite) http://www.kaiserwillys.com/ ... like danstew said you can basically by parts bolt by bolt and put one together. Blowby was the only problem before i rebuilt my motor but now after a ton of money and a complete rebuild it runs like a dream... in the upper post i didnt say that the tires and wheels are not for sale and not around... http://s583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/hefnerab/ ... now it has a small bed built and a jazz or jamz or whatever it is racing fuel cell... ask about what you see if you are interested. thanks guys for all the help.
