Hybrid axle shaft U-joints

Huh? You mean conversion joints? But those are for the driveshafts...

'splain, Lucy..

yeah i guess conversion joints but I need them for axle shafts.
I have EB ford D44 inners and ram charger D44 outters but the U-joint for the ramcharger is bigger by quite a bit

IMO conversion joints are kind of a bad idea unless you want to buy a bunch of spares beforehand. I like being able to go out wheeling somewhere and swing by a AutoZone or something that would have a spare if I had a problem. Conversion joints aren't going to be near as common, as far as my experience with them.

Yeah thats what I figured. Im going to stock up on them 3-4 spares. But I need to get my heep back on the road and they are the only thing holding me up.

I don't believe there is such a joint--though, there are a lot of dshaft conversion joints out there so who knows. Eb's use 260x joints and almost every other d44 uses 297/760 joints. Maybe talk to the guys at napa or fleetpride and see what they can find.

I'd say find some eb outers, but those are what like to break and then you'd be using a 260x joint and have the strength of an old d30. Or go with late 70s ford or dodge inners and respline the long side, but that will end up costing you well over $100 and you'll have a weaker long side inner, plus ~$55 for the two joints. What I really reccomend you do is look at some of the eb vendors, there are more than one selling "4340" front shaft sets with slingers and joints for around $390 shipped. Chinkmo shafts--yes--but a far better option than resplining.

Yeah chromo is prolly what ill end up going with. Depending on how much bastard joints are going to cost me

The bastard joints usually don't cost a whole lot necessarily. One for my driveshaft at the time was like $25. It's just that if it is an obscure joint, then it is likely that no normal auto parts will carry it, unless you get lucky.

My suggestion is to get a set of full size axles. The shorts side is the same length, the long side can be cut and resplined to the EB length. Then you eliminate the small axle and u joints.
