Anyone recomend a lawyer in Charlotte NC, I got a speeding ticket on 77 Thanksgiving day. I have recieved 15 letters in the mail, just wondering if anyone has any personal experience and was the outcome what you wanted? :driver:

so many REAL issues in meck court that it'll get thrown out (possibly). the last 3 of mine were tossed out by some random folks in the lobby an hour before court. they only had time for the 300 people with DWI's, no license, illegals, running stops lights etc.
just $0.02

CUT AND PASTE FROM OTHER THREAD CAUSE I'M TIRED OF TYPING IT. Honestly, your first and second tickets are freebies. No insurance points (raised rates) and no where near $300! If you make $300 in the half day (if that) that you are there, then go for it. If not, here's what you do.

Go to court, be there early, go to the DA and he will automatically reduce the speed to 9 over. You don't even have to ask for it he just does it for everyone, even those that are WAY over the limit. (20-30 mph over) you go before the judge and plead guilty to that charge. He says "OK you pay the court costs, ($125 or so) and a $10 fine. Pay the nice lady in cash (cause they ONLY take cash) then you are free to go. Should you get another ticket in the next 3 years, go back to court, the DA reduces it to 9 over but this time you have to use a Prayer for Judgment (PJC) This only costs you court costs and NO fine. The third one in less than 3 years after that one costs you because the PJC ticket and the new one hit your insurance companys desk. Also remember there is a difference between license points and insurance points. You get 1 license point per ticket, but for 9 or less over (or and PJC) you get no insurance points.

Interesting tidbit. I went downtown Winston to get my gun permit, on my way out of downtown (while trying to figure out where the hell I was and how to get out of downtown reading directions) I managed to run a red light. I hit a guy in the front fender of his car. Yada yada, I fessed up got all the info etc, got the ticket for running the light etc. I go to court to pay up, and the DA goes did you take care of the accident? I tell him yea my insurance paid to fix the other guys car. It's all good. He says OK you're done. No money, no payment nothing. I didn't even have to pay court costs. Weird, I guess they figure your insurance company is going to get all the money. (Which they do).

If you want a lawyer for this get George Laughren....You could have committed murder and have a good chance to get off with him......

I would ask around to see if they were profiling only people exceeding the posted speed limit that day in that area! If you don't want to go that way you should transfer the ticket to Calif. and plea it up to 1st degr. murder. You should get off free and clear! Check with OJ! He should be able to tell you how! HE-HE-HE

Incorrect, You get 2 license points for a 9 over, but 1 insurance point = 3 license points.

In the case of accidents, the ticketing officer did not witness you running the light, failing to yield, speeding or following too closely, etc. Without a third party witness, you could normally get off anyways.
With accident tickets, usually you can call the DA's office and fax them a letter from your insurance co stating the issue is resolved several weeks in advance and have the ticket dropped, no questions asked and never have to waste a morning in court.

My husband got one in Mecklenburg Co. the day before Thanksgiving :(

Cecil Whitley is great for Rowan County but said he wouldn't be able to help with a ticket in Mecklenburg Co. We're using Brad Icard ($200.00 + court costs) - we won't know the outcome for awhile (court date 1/9/10) but he's been great to work with.

Contact the DA about taking a driving class, If you do the class you will not get any points on your licence and insurance. The DA will tell you all about if you ask, I would ask to speak to the ADA first. You can take the class once every 4 years or so. The class is $40 and you still pay a fine, But you don't have to go to court. It doesn't show up on your record either.

DONT GET CAUGHT! :)

Do you have oversize tires, and have you been caught before?
I took mine to a dyno where the showed the speedometer was off and it got thrown outta court. But still had court cost, and cost of the dyno, and the gas to get the truck to Yadkinville

Warning, not all counties (cough cough, Wake) wil accept this as an "esxcuse".
Forsyth and Watauga do though :driver:

Good point. Mine was in Rowan though. Got stopped about 200 yards from the driveway.

My sister used a lawyer on her speeding tickets.

Best advice would be to talk to someone with experience, maybe a cop, or someone inside the court. The state trooper told me what to do pretty much.

I paid a lawyer $340, and it was reduced. thanks for all the help. I probably could have went to court, but didnt want to mess with the hassle.
