I finally got around to taken some pics of my "shop". It's a big warehouse with three bay doors off of Hilsborough. Rent is ok I guess, my roomate and I have to split the electric bill and keep the grass cut :D I am moving my truck and stuff over there this weekend. It is going to be great working inside on a smooth floor instead of outside in a driveway! It even has a big I-beam running across the two bays my roomate and I are using for a winch for all the engine and axle moving. I am super excited and cannot wait to get settled in.

How did you find it? If you don't mind me asking, how much is your rent?

I'd love to have a place like that. I have a lift at my house in Burlington, but it is outside, and I get tired of working in the weather, always having to take my tools back inside, etc.

I'd build a garage, but we'll be moving in the next year hopefully, so don't want to go through the time and expense for something I'm not going to get to use.

rent is for my roomate and i to paint over graffiti and keep the grass cut and property clean, plus the electric bill. My dads company (Bolton Corp.) is across the street from the building. it used to be the laundry building for Bolton, then they rented it to a coffe company, but now it has been vacant for a while. So with my dad tired of looking at my mess in his driveway + an empty warehouse needing some upkeep. He lets my roomate and I use it if we keep it up until they decide to sell it. So I lucked out.

The building is

I'm not sure I would have published that information to the world...

But that's awesome that you've got a place to work, and to leave your junk without people getting on your case.. :)

With that much room I would be in Heaven! Plenty room to work, store your parts and such. Does it have power to run a welder? How high are the ceilings? You can get a 9k lift for less than 2 grand. If they aren't already, I would invest in some bars for any windows, and make sure the entrys are as secure as they can be. Good deal, I am jealous.

Windows are barred, the ceiling is 12', which sucks because one of the other buildings my dad ownes has a 14' lift that was the truck service building... we already thought about moving it.

Most shop lifts are in the 13'6" tall range, and if you look at them close, the top 1.5 feet are not used even with say a full size van on them.

The safety shut off trip wire is usually right in this area too.

as most lifts don't raise more than 6' anyway ( from floor to bottom of lift arm, you should have room to play with.
( is your truck gonna be more than 5' tall from the BOTTOM of the frame to the top of the roof ?)

Some creative positioning of the lift before final install could probably net you a very usable shop tool.

i'd at least measure it out, see what the possibilities are.

Well i got all my stuff moved in this weekend. MAAN it is amazing how much more work i can get done in a big open area where i can just lay my stuff around or just throw stuff around and not worry about something breaking. And working inside on a nice floor is where its at!
