i have no flex

i have a 74 cj5 with what i think are stock leafsprings with about 7 or 8 leafs per corner and it is really stiff on the road or on the trail and i want to get some more flex so it isn't as harsh of a ride
what could i do to it so i can get a softer ride
i am looking for a budget build but i can fabricate some parts or i can find junkyard parts

you could try removing a couple leaves from eack pack, 7-8 sounds like a lot for a cj5

X2 this is what I did to my 79 and it flexed and road about as good as your going to get leafs too.

Some of the CJs came with the large leaf packs. I think some were offered due to factory options like maybe towing or a snow plow.

Yeah, you can pull some out but I think you'd do better with some YJ springs in there. They are a little wider so you'll have to do some work to get them to fit. Nothing too difficult.
