I don't have much experience with diesels and really don't have a grasp on the market (other than to know that diesel trucks seem to REALLY hold their value). I am looking at a 1995 F350 with 365k on the clock. It has the turbo 7.3 with auto trans, DRW, and is 2wd. Sounds like its had some maintenance done recently, including a turbo rebuild. What would this be worth in fair to good condition? What should I look for when I go check it out? Do these have any known weak points?

94.5 and newer are "Powerstroke" diesels, which all had turbos. Seems like a $4k truck based on miles, 2wd, reg cab, auto, but as you noted, diesels can bring stupid money lately.

He's asking $3300 for it. Body is fairly beat up from what I can see (work truck). Oh, and I did forget to mention it is an extended cab. Black with red interior.

As noted 94.5 was the changeover to turbos. $3300 is damn good price IMO. I would have figured a 5k asking price and try to get him too 4k. If he's only asking 33, I'd start at 2500 and see if you can snag it for under 3k.

Cool, thanks for all the help so far! I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow then. Supposedly it has 4 new tires (the rears I'm assuming).

The condition of the body & interior is probably a higher consideration than the motor. A lot of time folks thinking, "it will run 500K+" , but what about the steering, suspension, diff, & the comfort of the cab?

I had a 96 CC F-350,7.3 with 399K on it,2wd 5 speed w air.Changed clutch and flywheel at about 290K.Truck still ran good worked it everyday and it showed it.I got $3200 out of it when I sold it.

Heck, why not? It's a little rougher around the edges than I was hoping, but hopefully that's mostly cosmetic. It runs fantastic and has a 4" flowmaster exhaust system and a CAI.

Sounds like a plan, mine hasn't got used much lately it needs to be taken out and beat on.

If you guys get a trip together, let me know. I know JB has been out a few times, but it always seems to be on a weekend that I'm working or already had plans. JB keeps saying "Moab" when I see him. :driver:

I was talking to him last night about that we need to go, everything seems to be about a 5 hour drive we want to do though. Maybe we can break that truck in the right way!

with the inner rear tires bald, I'd think those were the old front tires. Maybe check the front end as it sounds like it needs some adjustment/work if the inner rear tires were in fact the front tires at one time.

I didn't think about that. One of them was worn a little funny (one side more than the other) and I couldn't figure out how that happened on the inner rear. Turns out that 2 of the 4 used tires the PO put on there wouldn't pass inspection anyway, so I put 4 new ones on it last weekend.

I also ordered both inner door handles (both broken) and a tail light (hole). The windshield is cracked, but I'm going to try to pass inspection without replacing it. I was quoted $208 for a new windshield.
