Hi,
I have a 79 cj7 frame with a yj tub and it has a 3" lift. I need 2 know if 35" 17" tires will work????
Thanks

It will be very tight if you didnt put any body lift under the YJ tub. I had to do a lot of fender trimming to stuff 35x12.5s under my CJ with 4" spring lift. 33s were fine, it seemed like more than 2" difference when I went up in size.

What do you have on the jeep now? Tire Size?

Measure the the height of the tire, Then that will give you an Idea of what size tire you can run.

So if your running 33s now and want to goto 35s its just going to ad around an inch up in the wheel well, So measure an inch forward, back, and up and see if it is going to be an issue. Also depends on how much you flex it offroading if it will rub.

Is that a 17'' wheel or 17'' wide tire?

I have 33 12-50 On 8" rim now. Haven't really looked at clearance. They are 17" wheel size but this should not matter, right? Also i'm wandering if 8" wide wheel VS 10" wide wheel will make a diff? Thanks for your help guys

yeah the 17'' wheel has no effect on clearance.

IMO the 8'' is better, and I am sure someone will have a different opinion, with an 8'' rim the tire is will have a bulge from being draw in by the rim, the bulge will help keep the bead on the tire and protect the rim. if the rim is first to hit than it gets torn up and mud and rock get jammed in the bead of the tire giving you issues, This is even more important with a 17'' wheel.

I wouldn't run 10'' wheel unless I was running a 14'' or wider tire.

I run 35 x 12.5 r15 on 15 x 8 wheels at >10 psi and I have not lost a bead.
