I need to ship a tranny to CA, ideas?

Are you in a hurry? If not, Forward Air can be pretty cheap.
Also - are you shipping from your place at home, or a business w/ a dock, and to another dock? That can make a huge difference.
I once had a junkyard tranny shipped to me from SC. From them to my home was $150. From them to the dock here at the medical center was $40. So I just called the receiving folks and made an arrangement to nab it as soon as it showed up.

if it's light, check into Greyhound?

Good luck with finding cheaper than 349. I ship with Fed Ex National all the time and we get a special rate. We ship to CA all the time and a pallet is a pallet. The weight is not gonna matter much. You could add another 200 to 300 pounds to it and its not gonna change the price much. But loading dock to loading dock is the cheapest rate you can get. As far as I know!

 From a friend that works for UPS...Business address is always cheaper.

At my el cheapo workplace...they use DHL a LOT...

I have heard Forward Air mentioned online a bunch....

forward air will do it for $175 terminal to terminal but the closest terminal to him is 165 miles

So what's the problem???
Throw in a couple CDs for him to listen to on the way home! :driver:

Depends on the tranny I suppose. I shipped an NV3550 from here to Indianapolis, IN at 102lbs for just under $100 with Fedex.

I had an nv3550 shipped to me from the very upper part of New York, right on the Canadian border

DHL shipped it for $72, and they even went to pick it up at the salvage yard I found it in

If the seller is gonna pay shipping, how much is the tirp worth to him? :)

Whats his zip? and smallest size pallet it could be strapped to including weight. I have two freight companies I work with on a regular basis that I receive 50%+ discount from. Maybe I can help...

I shipped a 6BT from Charlotte to Sacremento Monday for $129...

if its under 150lbs, then use fedex ground, ive just wraped them in shrink wrap and shipped them that way, some of them want them in a box.

I paid $200 to have my R151 and t-case shipped fedex ground to a business address from vermont in two separate containers. Look around for heavy duty tupperware style containers, then fill it with some sort of packing material so they cant shift around inside the container.
