Saw this on another forum, don't know how widely known it is so I thought I would post it here.
For those of you that are/have been/or know, someone that served in the military between 1940 and 2001 .....

Well I DID go to the http://www.ssa.gov/retire2/military.htm page and it IS true, from 1940 to 2001 there are benefits set aside for your social security payments. You can navigate to the above link from the SSA page so it's not a "spoof page."

BUT YOU HAVE TO REQUEST THEM!!!

Read and process as you see fit - but at least pass the word before the SSA goes bankrupt

Thanks for the info! Though I firmly believe there will be no Social Security by the time I retire, I'll give it a shot!

Looks like a need to be ready to retire before I could sign up.. Oh well, a bump for the old farts! :p

THANKS !!!!! I called my pops and he hadn't heard about it.. He will start drawing is SS next year so he hasn't done any of the paperwork.. But he said he will definitely remember to ask about it..
