what are my major issues going to be switching an IFS f250 to a straight axle? 2nd is if i can actually find one!! :driver:

found my axles, actually a whole ford minus motor and trans.stacked springs, lift and a d60...extremely cheap.

i suppose your truck is 2wd...? and is it thef250 light duty (looks the same as the F150)? either way, you'll need to get a soild axle, transfer case, and possibly a new trans or at least a different output shaft. and a lot of fab. much better to sell yours and buy a 4wd.

no mines a 4wd hd

Should be a simple swap since you already have leaf springs in the front. If you can find a dana 60 from a 80-97 F-350 it should bolt right in. You will need a track bar and that should only involve putting a mount on the frame as the axle should already have a bracket for it. The F-350s also have heavier front springs. I don't know if they are the same length as the 250 springs though. This is probably the simplest solid axle swap to do.

i appreciate all the info, now can yall keep an eye out for an axle...could be a finders fee....

contact gubni, he has them by the truckload.

Ive done it, its a direct bolt in, but make sure you get the trac bar plus the mount from the donor. And of course all the bolts and plates....Good luck getting a 60 for under $800 bucks thats in good shape...
