do they always go out all at once, or do they sometimes start acting up first?

dodge woulndt start the other day after i drive it a couple of miles, didnt shut of, just wouldnt start. a few hours later it fired right up. i warmed it up again and shut it down, then it started fine again. it has started ever since then, i just dont want to be stranded somwhere

They generally act up before crapping out all together, and heat usually speeds up the failure. However, it still maybe something else. What year car/truck and motor? If it's a older style coil set up (early cj/chevy stuff) you can throw it on ice for a few minutes and it'll usually work again, until it gets hot.

its a 96 ram 1500 5.9L. ive tried to get it to do it again by runnin it until warm, but i cant get it to "not start" again. im perty sure it wasnt gettin fire because it wasnt hittin at all.
