Just thought I would share my build with you guys. This is my first real "build" as I've had jeeps in the past with 4-6'' of lift but nothing special. I got the scout off of ebay. It had a half finished soa lift on new 35s, ford 9'' rear with moser shafts, detroit locker, 488 gears, dana 44 front detroit tru-trac and 488s. Also came with D&C front and rear bumpers and sliders. Ive gotten alot done and ill just post up pics up to the point Im at now and continue from there.
Here is a pic when we first brought her home

After the soa was finished and in primer

after riding around like this for a while I found someone parting out a scout and picked up some 4'' rough country springs for 250.....couldn't resist

Here is a picture of how it sat after the additional 4'' springs

But after "trying" to drive it like this, something NEEDED to be done about the castor and pinion angle. So I got a hold of Andy Zubar and set up to get him to cut and rotate my C's so the dissasembly begins....

after about a week I got the axle back and started the reassembly

Here is the axle after getting it back up underneath the scout. The castor was set to about 5 degrees positive but I have got to do something about the drag link as it is now rubbing the bottom of the springs a little.

So after I had all that done I decided to put on the sliders that came with the scout when I bought it. They were simple 2x4 tube with round tube on the back nothing too fancy

So with my new lift.....those 35's just didnt look right anymore and I rolled up my buddies spare 37'' xterrain.... I liked what i saw
ai38.photobucket.com_albums_e143_redneckjeeper94_DSC05681.jpg

So I got the 35s sold and while I was waiting on my 37s I decided to twinstick my dana 20
ai38.photobucket.com_albums_e143_redneckjeeper94_DSC05663.jpg

Had to do a little trimming to get it in there

But after a short trail run I realized that fender trimming was desperately needed in the back.

So thats pretty much where Im at, I still need to fix the drag link, make shock mounts for the front, extend my brake lines, hook the front shaft back up and a lot of other minor projects just though I would post up what I have done so far:gitrdun:

Man that thing is sweet, I was really torn between a scout or 1st gen blazer and ended up getting a 72' k5 since i found it first. But I love those scouts...That pic of your scout next to a 72' k5 made me drool.

thats bad ass, i've always had a soft spot for scouts.

hey if you are intrested I have a brand new set of mrw wheels non beadlock. Can't remember the backspacing but i can measure them. I decided to put tons under mine. The look good and have more backspacing than your wheels so no rub on springs ill sell for a great deal.

Good looking rig man. I've got a 74' scout II and it don't look half that good. It's got alot of cancer.

I picked up this jeep dana 20 from Jeff B on Tuesday, gonna swap it out for mine sometime this week. I got another one because mine makes a lot of grinding noises when i get above 35mph or so. The only thing different that I will have to swap over is the front shifter housing and it will be ready to go back into my scout. So like I said sometime this week I'll start to tear into that project.

you sure thats all you'll have to do to make a jeep dana 20 fit in a scout? I am pretty sure they have different bolt patterns and the scout has a texas pattern and the jeeps is round, thats as long as you are running a scout transmission

AH he beat me to it. The only difference in the bolt pattern is that there is a bolt on the top of the IH case that isnt used on the jeep case, but other than that its all the same.

well the transfer case swap has been put on hold because I have thrown myself into another project. Last night I went out and bought enough Herculiner to line the scouts floorboard and this morning I went to pull the vynal floor cover and found a project underneath......

Ive got all the sheet metal I need to fix it so thats what I'll be up to for now.

well I've got one side cleaned up decently and some patches made for them. Im doing this purly for aesthetics so you dont see through the floorboard at the ground so its not perfect but will do just fine.

I wouldnt say that's purely for aesthetics. I mean... let that go un-fixed and eventually you'll be able to start the Scout like Fred Flintstone.

Well I did "fix" the rust problem by cutting out all of the badly rusted metal until i got to good metal. I guess that was just a bad choice of words on my part. Instead of cutting out a perfect patch and welding it in im using some scrap aluminum that I've got laying around and using pop rivest to secure them to the floor.

Well I got the patches done for the passenger side done, started applying some rust inhibitor. Tomorrow at work I'm gonna grab some aircraft prc and seal some of the places on the patches that need it. I know this isnt a typical patch job but I'm working with what I have and limited tooling, but im happy the way it turned out and its much stronger than I thought it would be. Here is how they turned out.
