I'm a hardcore Ford guy, but I have a big decision to make.
I'm having a kid in August and it just so happens both of my trucks are too small for a baby seat... awesome, so I went looking at other trucks (extended cab F150/F250s) and it seems that those are also too small for a baby seat. Next thing I know against what I think I should do I went and looked at a Dodge 1500 and that rear seat seems like it would work. I would go and buy a Supercrew or a Crewcab but I just don't have the money, as can be expected on E3 pay, I do however have the 2 Fords in my sig to trade in on and it might just work.
So I have a couple questions for you fathers/mothers and Dodge guys out there.
Is an Extended cab F150 or F250 rear seat big enough for a car seat?
If I do buy a Dodge, what should I look out for?
Most desirable years?

Edit: talking used trucks here.

I had a car seat in the back of my 01 f150. Was tight, but if you put it in the middle with the fold down armrest it will work.

Those rear faceing car seats for the little ones don't fit in anything well but putting it in the middle will work.

you can get 2001 + 4x4 crew cab Lariat F250s for less than $12K... Selling both of your trucks should give you enough $$$ for a crew cab, assuming they are in decent shape.

2 years ago I got my 2001 lariat 4x4 crew cab f250 gasser with 85K miles on it for $11500...

MY trucks both are in good shape, but I can hardly find a F150 Lariat for that kind of $$

I know you said you were a Ford fan but I have had a 98 Chevy Ext Cab and now have a Chevy crew cab and a car seat will fit great in both of them.
Yep, both rear facing and front facing will fit in the back seat of a '95 Chevy ext cab.

Blah chevies... I'm kidding, but at this point it's getting to be whats best for my family, so we'll see how it plays out.

You can purchase mine :D I'm hoping to upgrade to a diesel within the next 90 days...

Try eBay. Look at some dealerships or private party sales in Texas. There seems to be a lot of F250 and F350 trucks down there for real reasonable prices.

I purchased mine from a used car dealer in Chicago. Of course I was taking a chance (did a lot of homework as to the reputability of the dealer and the history of the truck, etc.), but I also purchased a warranty through the bank when I got the financing so that if anything was wrong, it was fixable...

Been going strong the last 2 years without any major issues

Backwards facing car seat fit in the back of my '01 F150, like was said before, just put it in the middle and put the console down. It actually made it easier to reach the bottle, etc cus the kids head was right next to me and the seats would protect the kid better in an accident I would think. Remember too that the kid won't be in it for too long. I am horrible with remember that kind of stuff, but it seems like before mine were 1 they were in a forward facing seat that reclined a bit.

Well, I'm in trouble... Let a friend borrow my truck and now it needs an engine rebuild... Which isn't worth it since I'm going to sell it anyways.
So I went and looked at a 2000 Dodge 1500 Quad cab (I think? it was ext. cab so whatever dodge calls it) Is there anything to look out for in the Dodges or should I stick to Fords?
If you have anything for sale that I would be interested in PM me :driver:
