Has anybody out there installed a400 poncho in a gm truck chassie I have engine and trans and I am going to install and extension housing on the th400 it comes with and connect it to a 203 case the only reason is that the pontiac motor with the cam and heads I've slected will make around 650 lbs of toqure at2500 rpm :D

I haven't done it, but, it is a good idea. The Old's, Buick, Pontiac, and Caddy engines do make a lot of torque. Some re-wiring( re-routing) and some fabbed engine mounts and you will be good to go.

well since pontiac ran the same size block for the 350-400-455s any thing other than a 301 is thier 'big block'. Very nice strong and farily light weight block.

My bro ran a poncho 350 (was out of an old car i had way back in HS) in his pro stock car, tech. guys didnt know what the F it was and never had to worried about being claimed.. IMHO good motors, honestly if your gonna spend the $ id put those parts on a 455 block, everything swaps, and they arn't hard to find on ebay..

and yes they can make good numbers.. as with any non-chevy engine parts are % more.. also a guy on pbb was doing a caddy install, was either 472 or 500 i forget, in a jeep with the same concept, lots of low en torque...

swaping is should be farly straght forward, i has an old 82 bonni that i had swaped in a pontiac and with the stock clamshell mounts i only need to redrill a few holes on the whish bone and to set it where i wanted it... Watch the rear/pass oil filter boss that can cause some issues with at times, a relocation kit helps a lot..
