Insurance/Elec Fire thoughts

This thread on PBB http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=891108 got me thinking about going over all the outlets at the house and barn. Also checking into EXACTLY what our homeowners policy covers. Dont want this to happen to any of us and at least use it as a "What I need to fix/upgrade" moment. Truly sucks as that buggy was used to teach ALOT of people about Land use issues.

That really sucks, I was reading that last night. This is exactly why I will have some sort of fire/theft policy on my rig. If I ever get it done.

The ins. isn't covering any of the vehicles if i read correctly.

That's pretty much the way it works...whatever they insure has to be included in their figuring when they come up with your rate...how can they insure cars in a garage, if it could be anything from a POS to a Rolls, without having that info (and you paying the rate?)

If you look over most homeowner policies...they have limits on many things...such as jewelry, tools, etc, unless you have a rider...or separate policy.

That's just how it works.

Correct, but also know that, homeowner policies are for the home and your policy property. They speficly exclude "auto's". That's why you have to have an auto policy to cover the auto. They are designed to dovetail each other, but w/ no overlap.

For example: If someome steals your car and you left your labtop and other personal items in the car. The auto insurance, comp coverage if you have it, will cover the actual cash value of the auto. Then if you have homeowners they will cover the labtop & other personal property.
