Is there really any difference in intakes?? I have a few in mind. There's a new XDI True Flow out? Anyone heard anything about it. Volant and Airaid are a couple others that I'm looking at, but not cheap. Want to get the most bang for my buck. I've got a '07 JK and eventually want to put a catback on it as well. Anyone got any 411?:bronco:

Since I have no experience with anything under the hood of a JK, please take my recommendations with a grain of salt--

Regardless of the model you choose, you want a conical air filter, meaning one that receives air @ 360*, all the way around. Look for a large volume filter that flows into a large smooth lined tube to the throttle body.
You want a direct line into the throttle body from the filter, the less bends, turns, and redirection of air, the better. Look for a plastic air plenum (the piece that connects the air filter to the throttle body). Aluminum is stronger and will not deflect under the engines heat, yet, aluminum will absorb heat and cause the incoming air to rise in temperature--no allowing for the full benefit of the intake setup. With that said, look for a strong, thick black plastic plenum along with quality hardware connecting everything. Last thing you want after paying a pretty penny for your new intake is gaps and an ill-fitting setup.

Goodluck and keep us posted on what you decide.

Better off sinking the cash into lockers, suspension and tires, bro. Unless JK's are some different animal altogether, all the intakes I've had on various vehicles have not been worth the price when put on a stock motor and stock exhaust.

But you will get a seat-of-the-pants increase. The thing will sound louder, and the throttle will feel more responsive. Most tests have shown that intake alone does not increase HP, though.

Glad you're on here! There's much info to be had.
